Flooring Advice
Surface Preparation
For Your Premises
Commercial floors.
From preparation to finish.

Assessing the existing surface

Preparation before coating
Choose a finish
for your premises.
From subtle solid colours to decorative flake blends, explore a finish that suits your premises. Performance and texture are specified for the way the floor is used.
A blend of decorative flakes adds depth and visual texture. The base colour and flake size help shape the final look.
Prefer a more uniform look? Explore soft neutrals, darker greys and a splash of colour.
Colours are indicative. James will help confirm samples, texture and a suitable coating system for your space.

A lasting finish starts
well before the coating.
Preparation matters. Your concrete, the setting and the way you use the floor all shape the work required.

Assess Your Space
Talk through the floor area, its condition, daily traffic, spills and access windows. James checks the concrete and discusses the right approach before preparing your quote.
- 02
Prepare the Concrete
The surface is prepared and suitable cracks or imperfections are repaired before coating. Existing coatings and moisture concerns are assessed so the new finish has the right foundation.
- 03
Build Up the Finish
The selected coating system is applied, including decorative flakes or texture where specified. The layers and finish are matched to the project.
- 04
Allow Time to Cure
Installation and ready-for-use times aren’t the same thing. James will confirm when you can walk on the floor, move items back and return vehicles to the space.
Your commercial flooring
questions, answered.
How much does a commercial floor cost?
Floor area, surface preparation, repairs and the chosen coating all affect the quote. Include your approximate area and intended use so James can assess the scope.
Can you work around opening hours?
Share your opening hours, access restrictions and planned shutdowns. James will discuss the available schedule and confirm arrangements for your site.
How long is the floor out of use?
Preparation, application and curing all need to be allowed for. Foot traffic, equipment and vehicles may have different return-to-use times, confirmed for your selected system and site conditions.
Can the floor handle vehicles or chemical spills?
Tell James about vehicle loads, equipment, oils, chemicals and cleaning products. Any specific performance or slip-rating requirements need to be assessed before selecting a coating.
Can you coat existing or damaged concrete?
Old coatings, cracks and moisture concerns need assessment. Suitable preparation and repairs form part of the scope before a new finish is applied.
What information should I have ready?
Your site location, approximate floor area, use and timing are a good start. Photos, floor plans and specifications can be shared in the follow-up conversation.
What areas do you service?
Newcastle, Maitland and the Hunter Valley. Include your site suburb or postcode so James can confirm coverage.
